Video: Leap Manifesto Event with Council of Canadians

On Oct 30, 2016 Leap Victoria, a new group dedicated to promoting and advancing dialogue about The Leap Manifesto, held their first public event. The provocative panel discussion featured Barbara Mitchell Pollock Co-Chair of the Council of Canadians Victoria Chapter.

The Manifesto was initiated in the spring of 2015 at a two-day meeting in Toronto attended by representatives of Canada’s environmental movement, trade unions, churches, indigenous organizations, and women’s, student and civil rights groups.

Since then more than 200 organizations and tens of thousands of Canadians have endorsed the Manifesto. Endorsers include 350.org, Greenpeace, the Sierra Club, CUPW, CUPE, PSAC, National Farmers Union, Council of Canadians, Green Party, Quebec Solidaire, Black Lives Matter, Idle no More, Kairos, Holy Cross International Justice Office, and Oxfam Canada. BC endorsers include the David Suzuki Foundation, Friends of Clayoquot Sound, Turning the Tide, Raging Grannies of Victoria, and UBC Students for Climate Action.
